New Community Fire Station for Preesall

The Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service is building a new Community Fire Station for Preesall and the surrounding area. The £450,000 project represents a significant financial commitment to the local community and will see a state-of-the-art building which can truly be called a Community Fire Station, since it will offer community meeting facilities, provide an office for Lancashire Constabulary’s local policing team, facilities for North West Ambulance Patient Transfer Service and will incorporate a Surestart Drop-In Centre.

The new single storey facility will be built on the existing site but occupying twice the present floor-plan area at Sandy Lane, Preesall, FY6 0EJ, replacing the 45-year-old building which has reached the end of its useful life.

Station Manager Peter Cogley, the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service’s Service Delivery Manager for the Wyre district, confirms that it will be ‘business as usual’ in terms of emergency response capability and community fire safety provision while the project to build a new Community Fire Station in Preesall is under way and says,

“We have comprehensive and robust alternative arrangements in place to ensure our services are delivered without interruption throughout the new-build programme, beginning with the demolition of the old fire station right through to the completion of its replacement, a process which will take between 5 and 6 months.”
