The 'SMILE' (Sustainable Mentorship In Liveable Environments) course
is all about evaluating your own skills, developing communication skills
and providing an understanding of Well-being to enable and empower
you to act within your own social groups of friends and associates to
promote good mental health and increased levels of self appreciation.
We will also be enhancing the stress management techniques, time
management skills, developing the learning styles and providing
attendees a thorough understanding of the help available to improve the
well-being of those around them.

The course is available to people who reside in North Lancashire and who are willing to be peer mentors and is currently free of charge.

Why do the course
The result is a nationally recognised qualification at level 2 which can be used to further other learning objectives. There are no examinations. The course has clear objectives that attendees can demonstrate. Attendees of the course will be taught a wide range of skills and benefits including:

Communication Skills, Skills Evaluation, Stress Management, Well Being Learning Styles, Referral Routes for mentoring

How is course delivered
Course delivery is through Six training days, and Six active placement days where the training will be put to use to give attendees direct experience and a greater understanding (if applicable) - placements will be allocated if you are not already working in the field.

First courses in Fleetwood and Morecombe, then in other Locations in North Lancs. (to be arranged)
First week of September 2010 - Fridays
