‘Get Some Answers’ on Illicit Tobacco
Wednesday 22nd September 2010, 9am – 1pm
Tickled Trout Hotel, Preston New Road, Preston, PR5 OUJ
Purpose:
Lancashire is a hotspot for illicit tobacco. Whether smuggled, bootlegged or counterfeit, it is widely available across the county. It undermines all effective tobacco control levers to tackle our biggest killer and creates a cheap source for children and young people.
The ‘Get Some Answers’ Campaign has been set up by the ‘North of England Tackling Illicit Tobacco For Better Health Programme’ which incorporates trading standards, HMRC and Smokefree Northwest.
Learning Objectives:
• To inform delegates of the local impacts of illicit tobacco use
• To understand the market of illicit tobacco
• To understand the purpose and design of the ‘Get Some Answers’ Campaign
• To understand your role in reducing the demand of supply of illicit tobacco in your community
Who should attend?
• Local councillors
• Health & Wellbeing Partnership Members
• Those working in health and community safety
• Crime & Disorder Partnership Members
