Visit to Manchester Museum

Manchester Museum of Science & Industry recently played host to an intergenerational group from Fleetwood. The group consisted of young people who are living at the WyreYMCA Foyer and Trans Age Action volunteers (Age Concern).
It was a day enjoyed by the two generations coming together and chatting to one another about the Museum’s exhibits. Discovering what it was like to be in a sewer under the city of Manchester and the exciting hand on exhibition Xperiment were huge favourites with young and old.
One of the residents from the Foyer said” It was an experience I’ll never forget. I liked the sewers they were the best along with the flight simulator” Each member of the group had a disposable camera to take their own special record of what was a thoroughly enjoyable occasion. In the New Year, the intergenerational group will work together to create a collage with their ‘photos.
Christine Campbell Trans Age Action Co-ordinator said that the day had been so successful that the hope was to repeat the trip in January and that by doing this those volunteers and young people who had other commitments on this first trip would now be able to have a great day out too. One of the volunteers said that she’d had a lovely day and her husband says that she hasn’t stopped talking about it.
If you want to anything more about Trans Age Action and intergenerational work, Christine would be pleased to hear from you on 774124.
