About the Forums

membersOlder people need a voice.
A recent survey revealed that the majority of older people in Wyre are unaware of how to comment on or influence the services that directly affect them.
While there are a number of developments hoping to provide better information and services for older people it is important that there are clear channels of communication in order for residents to influence the content and delivery of these services.

Forums can play a valuable role in this communication.

The Wyre Pensioner forum and the Wyre Senior forum are two groups of residents who meet regularly to discuss and comment on all aspects of living in Wyre.
Wyre Pensioner forum is funded by Wyre Borough Council and Wyre Senior Forum is supported by Lancashire County Council through Age Concern.
Both forums are represented on a Wyre and Fylde Board that steers the programme to develop and deliver services for older people.
They will also be represented at a Lancashire wide Older Persons Assembly to be established in the near future.
Each forum has its own character but both share the view that older people should continue to play an active role in influencing the planning and delivery of new developments and services.

Now it’s your turn to get involved, for the Wyre Senior Forum please give Sue Campbell a call at Age Concern on tel 774126  or for the Wyre Pensioner forum call Carole Cleary at Wyre Borough Council on tel 887444.
