I was born in the city of Ahmedabad, Gujarat State, India. Ahmedabad was once the capital city of the Gujarat State on 2nd September 1935. It was called 'Manchester of India' - the main industry was the Cotton Mills and looms - made in Rochdale, Lancashire. Mahama Gandhi had an 'Ashram' on the banks of Sabarmati River in this city and some scenes of 'GANDHI' Film were shooted there.
I have live in the present area since 1978. I arrive in this country in September 1962 and travelled to different parts of United Kingdom in different hospitals. Also went to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dublin and London for examinations for the Fellowships in General Surgery. Finally ended in Fylde Coast in Septemer 1978 as a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon in Victoria Hospital.
I am married to Councillor Frances May and I have 2 sons. Neil and Mark.
I qualified as a Doctor (MBBS) in B J Medical College, Gujarat University, India. So now I have following qualifications: MBBS; FRCS (Ed & Lon); FACS (USA).
Ibecame interested in people and Community. I always wish to help people if I can mainly in health but gradually got interested in the problems of people. But the Politics was introduced to us by Charle Stebbing, now the Honorary Alderman of our Borough and Josie Stebbing OBE in October 1978. Initially to support the Conservative party & joining events to raise funds. Then Raising funds for the party at our home.
