LogoGiving Fleetwood a Head Start in Business

“Have you got a Head for New Heights?”

That’s the message to the port’s would be entrepreneurs from the Fleetwood Chamber of Trade and Commerce and Wyre Borough Council who are helping local people to take their first steps to owning their own business.

If you always fancied being your own boss then you don’t want to miss out on free business start-up advice ‘taster’sessions available in August.

Come along to any of the morning or afternoon sessions held at the North Euston Hotel on 4 August and 26 August (between 10am and 12pm or 2pm and 4pm) where you can find out all about what is involved in starting a business.

Local business advisers will be on hand to speak to you about your viable business ideas, give you professional advice and help you to gain the skills necessary to start up on your own.

Interested people can then attend a free ‘Head for New Heights & and Be Your Own Boss’ introductory business course which covers everything from being self-employed, developing business plans, marketing, financial planning and how to make a profit.

And people worried about a fiery Dragon's Den approach to their business ideas will be reassured to know that this innovative project is here to provide friendly and professional advice and help you succeed.

Councillor Mike Sanderson, Chairman of Fleetwood Chamber of Trade and Commerce, said: ““Local businesses are absolutely vital to our economy and we are here to help local people realise their dream of starting up in business. We understand that it can be a very daunting process, as there is so much to consider when going into business, but the good news is that you don’t have to go it alone.

“If you have an idea and want to know what to do next to get your business moving then please do come along to one our sessions in August to find out how we can help you.

“Ultimately, we want to build upon the enthusiasm of local entrepreneurs and help them to develop reliable and well researched plans which will give them an excellent route to success.”

Dedicated one-to-one follow up sessions with professional business advisers are also available for people once they have developed their plans and want to discuss any aspect. They can also help with specialist financial advice for starting up in business include finding the right financial providers and preparing business plan for submissions.

This project has been funded by the North West Member Development Gateway following a successful bid for £5,000 and supports Wyre Borough Councils' Living Economy pledge to promote investment, create jobs and build modern sustainable communities.
