About Me

lynne bowenI have lived in Wyre Borough for 37 years. I moved here from nr Winchester in Hampshire when I got married. I have a son, a daughter and 2 grandaughters.

My husband and myself run an equestrian business breeding and producing young horses particularly to show jump. My husband David was in the LA olymc team in 84, where they won a silver medal. My daughter Sarah has been Ladies national champion, young rider and junior rider of the year.

I enjoy riding, my horse is called Amber, she is a super horse, I do not show jump but I am a keen hunter. I am a member of the Vale of Lune Harriers. They meet every Wednesday and Saturday from late September to early March. The country they cover is south lakes, the scenery is second to none, we get to see views that members of the public could only dream about. Of course they do not hunt live prey but follow a set trail.

I have always been interested in politics, since I can remember. When I was asked if I would be interested in becoming a Borough Councillor I was delighted to have a chance to represent the Ward where I live. I was elected 9 years ago, to represent the conservative group.

The most contentious issue in Hambleton and Stalmine is the road which runs through the villages from Shard Bridge to Knott End. I have campagined to try to get the speed limit reduced. The Over Wyre councillors have been successful in putting illuminated speed awarness signs which have helped reduce accidents on this stretch of road.

I am in the Cabinet and my portfolio covers housing, leisure services and older people. I like helping older people, Wyre has a large older population, obviously they find Wyre a nice place to live and it would be great to make it even better.
